in a kingdom not too far away, fluttered a butterfly with his delicately powdered wings.

King of the fairies he may have been, he didn’t say but by his poise, dignity and courage he had all the characteristics. Not always had he those beautiful wings. You see, after he had had enough of his caterpillar days he decided to hide between two blocks. Turned into a chrysalis and waited to transform.

But there, of all horrors, Iktomi the spider found him, helpless and immobile he was. Iktomi wrapped him so tight, it was hard to breathe, days after days, the situation was becoming hopeless. Never would he be able to try out his new wings, his new life of freedom in the skies that awaited him. Tasting all the nectars that would be available to him and work pollinating all the flowers and the trees. A work he was meant to do, he was born for it, it was in his nature, deep in his soul.

Amidst the paralysing fear and hopelessness, he must have left a tiny space for a wish to be granted, divine grace and a little room for a miracle to manifest. Every day a lady would pass him with her children. They would be talking of their day and sharing their love for each other. He knew their voices. He would call out in a language of no words but to no avail. Days turned into nights of fears until one day the lady spotted him!

Oh my goodness, she said to him, you poor little thing, this is so scary let’s get you out of here! Shoo shoo Iktomi, not today! She pulled the little chrysalis out of what would have become his tomb, unravelled all the webbing of fear surrounding him. Over and over he had to be turned, like a mini corn on the cob. Until he was finally free and placed him into a potted plant. Wished him well and hoped he was ok.

Well it just so happen, that three days later he had turned into the most beautiful butterfly. He waited patiently for someone. The lady arrived and she saw him immediately, it was like meeting her best friend from forever in eternity. So proud of him she was, his wings were exquisite, he had done it! So brave, such courage, it was endearing. He recognised her. Feeling safe he fluttered onto her finger and at that moment her heart felt like it blew across the fields and the oceans in gratitude and love. They had a moment to savour the all of that is.

And then, just like that, the butterfly flew away to discover what his dreams were made off, leaving behind him Hope, Faith and Trust in the Mystery.
